Fun Facts About Easter

Unlike fixed holidays like Halloween and Christmas, Easter is considered a “moveable feast” and can fall anywhere from March 22 and April 25.  The simple standard definition of Easter is that it is the first Sunday after the full Moon that occurs on or after the spring equinox. If the full Moon falls on a Sunday then Easter is the next Sunday.

in addition to not having the same date year by year easter is also interesting because it’s one of the few holidays that is celebrated all over the world. Around the globe an estimated 2 billion people celebrate easter for religious reasons. Easter is considered the most holy holiday in the Christian faith. in addition to those 2 billion people, tens of millions of people from other faiths celebrate easter as well. Easter is one of the biggest holidays worldwide.

Easter traditions extend to more than just candy baskets and easter bunny stories. Here are some of the more interesting traditions from around the world. In some parts of Europe people start fires on easter. They are called easter fires. In Sweden and Finland kids dress up and go door to door asking for candy. They have a mini Halloween near easter time. This is different than regular trick-or-treating because they actually leave something at the house when they get the candy. In India easter is celebrated with carnivals and lots of dancing big events in the major cities.
